Ruma Parvin is a Faculty Member of the Department of Sociology at East West University, Dhaka, Bangladesh. She has been working as a Lecturer at Department of Sociology, East West University from September 2022 to Present. She has completed her Graduation and Post-Graduation from the Department of Sociology, University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. She has completed her Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) first part from Department of Sociology, University of Dhaka and yet to submit her thesis for the M.Phil. degree. She is a hardworking, honest, enthusiastic, determined, and diligent professional who was started her career in academic sector with complete dedication.
Previously, She worked at University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) as an Adjunct Faculty of General Education Department (GED) and at The People's University of Bangladesh as a Lecturer of Sociology and Social Work Department. Her strong translation skills rewarded her with the position of Regional Editor of Global Dialogue, a quarterly magazine of the International Sociological Association (ISA). Her research focuses on Gender stratification, Women empowerment, Ethnic minority women’s empowerment and social acceptance, Women and child harassment, Violence against Women, Women Rights and social policy, Gender inequality, Women movement both mainstream and ethnic, Environment and climate change.
