Dr. Dilara Begum has represented Bangladesh at 84th World Library and Information Congress 2018, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Being a Secretary of Information Literacy (IL) section, International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA), Dr. Dilara Begum, Associate Professor and Chairperson, Department of Information Studies and Library Management & Librarian (In-charge), East West University has attended in the 84th World Library and Information Congress 2018, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on 24-30 August, 2018. This year, the theme of this congress was “Transform Libraries, Transform Societies” and more than 3500 delegates from over 110 countries attended this congress. Dr. Min Chou, Co-chair and Dr. Dilara Begum, Secretary, Information Literacy Section was conducted a session on “Information Literacy: From Practice to Research and Back Again” co-sponsored by Library Theory and Research / Information Literacy Sections on 26 August 2018. Besides, as a prominent expert of Library and Information Science (LIS) professionals in Bangladesh, She attended a joint meeting on “Let’s work together and Global collaboration” with Christine Mackenzie, President-elect IFLA, Executive Committee INELI-Oceania and ALIA Fellow and Bangladesh Library Professionals as well as The Librarian Times (TLT) at IFLA secretariat press room in Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, Malaysia on the same day. In this meeting, she briefly highlighted on the overall scenario and future panorama of the LIS profession and actions of LIS professionals in Bangladesh. She also talked about EWU library team engagement and activities with IFLA and other Global-Regional professional bodies. Christine Mackenzie, President-elect IFLA has appreciated the contributions and involvement of EWU library for the upliftment and ceaseless support of LIS professionals in Bangladesh. In addition, She attended IFLA IL standing committee meeting, IFLA Leadership Division Forum III, Professional Committee’s Officers Forum – IFLA Professional Committee and so on.
